Camper Chan
Man Hing
Everybody wonders why I do not seem
upset that I am sick and why I even
look happier than the other kids.
The reason is, I have support from
my family, classmates, friends, and
everyone at Camp Quality.
In participating in Camp Quality
activities, I no longer associate
illness with pain. It is like tasting
something bitter before tasting something
sweet. Fighting against illness is
like a tragic scene in a play, but
then comes the sweetest, most wonderful
scene, the Camp Quality part. I am
a curious and playful person and Camp
Quality is all about playing and friendship.
Camp Quality plays an important part
in my life. Now I no longer feel lonely.
I remember the first event at Camp
Quality that I participated in. It
was the Christmas party held in Sheung
Wan in 2000. At that time, I felt
strange and uneasy being there. It
was good to have my companion Gloria
with me. She helped me to feel at
ease and to fit in with the party.
It has been two years since I joined
Camp Quality. Not only is it a place
to let campers enjoy themselves, it
also trains their independence and
enables them to make new friends.
Taking this opportunity, I would
like to thank all the staff at Camp
Quality who always do their best to
organize activities for us, and for
all the kind and responsible companions.
I would also like to thank the Peninsula
Hotel, Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club
and the Rotary Club of Kowloon North,
for their support and financial assistance
to Camp Quality during these years.
Without their assistance and support,
the activities of Camp Quality would
not have been so successful and brought
so much joy to campers.
