Amoy Dim Sum Factory
Plant Tour
Last Saturday, the Camp Quality children
were given a very rare opportunity
to visit the Amoy Dim-Sum Factory
in China. The Amoy plant was based
in Shenzhen and through the kind assistance
of Ms Christina Keilthy, General Manager
of Amoy Food Ltd, we were able to
coordinate a very exclusive tour of
the Amoy Plant and give the children
an opportunity to try their skills
at Dim Sum making. This was an absolute
thrill for the kids since they were
making dim sum bites, which they would
normally eat out of the packet whilst
in hospital or at home!!

Under the guidance of Mr Simon Tam
of Amoy, our Camp Quality group set
of early on Saturday morning with
a member of Camp Quality staff and
our companions for Shenzhen. We were
given a warm reception upon arrival
at the plant as well as goodie bags
even before we started!! Refreshments
were offered immediately and the Amoy
staff made the kids extremely welcome.
A general introduction was given of
the Amoy plant before we were whisked
away on a factory tour of the plant,
which was huge, over 90,000 sq ft!!

After a delicious lunch, Dim Sum
of-course!! We made our way to their
Dim Sum workshop and that's when the
excitement really begun, the art of
Amoy dim sum making was demonstrated
to us and the kids had an opportunity
to try a variety of dim sum making
with great success, we may add!!
Just before we left, a tree planting
ceremony was also organized at the
Amoy Garden, each kid got to plant
his or her own tree as a commemoration
of this very enjoyable visit.
It is hoped that we are able to take
a couple of more groups up to their
Amoy Plant throughout the next couple
of months.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ms Christina
Keilthy and Mr Simon Tam from Amoy
Food Ltd for this wonderful opportunity!
