Annual Children’s Christmas Carnival 2009

‘Twas the night before Christmas… well, a few days before, when Camp Quality held their eighth Annual Children’s Christmas Party at the ever-familiar Repulse Bay. The day couldn’t have been better; sunny cloudless skies and a host of games to entertain the children and their companions.

There were also live performances on the Party stage. First to perform was Howard McCrary, who heightened the Christmas mood with a festive sing-a-long of jolly favourites and an encore of ‘Jingle Bells’.

Across the floor, there was a sea of red Santa hats and arms waving in unison. Two campers Matthew and Daniel, couldn’t help but join Howard on stage. This earned them a round of applause from everyone at the end. After warming their vocal chords, the campers were let loose on the various stalls. There was a chance to have your hand encased in wax with the finished product available to take home as a memento.

Other craft-making stalls included bag designing, frame-decorating, as well as a picture stall that allowed campers to capture the moment. The bouncy obstacle course proved to be the biggest hit. The kids started off with a slippery slide down many hills, before disappearing into a tunnel. When they made it to the other side, they entered an even bouncier world of tall pillars that were moving all over the place. You didn’t know when they were going to hit you next! Then came the climb up to the slide, which was a great end to the adventure.

After an exciting time at the various stalls, everyone gathered together again to watch two very special EEG artists perform as they did the previous year. Sherman Chung was first to perform, captivating nearly everyone with her breathtaking ballads. Next was Vincy Chan, who managed to get many of the campers up on stage to sing along to our Camp Quality Anniversary theme song. Watch out Sherman and Vincy, our campers might be your next rivals!

There was a long line to met each of the celebrities at the CD signing, but the wait was worth it as each camper received an autographed CD of either Vincy or Sherman’s latest CD. They also had their picture taken and walked off with a goody bag containing Disneyland Hong Kong goodies.

Last but not least, our heartfelt thanks go to Mr. Jensen and his wonderful team of staff at The Repulse Bay for welcoming the children to their very impressive “new” Repulse Bay. Its magnificent new décor still manages to retain most of its old colonial charm, and still manages to create a magical venue for the Camp Quality Christmas party.

Our three lovely nurses would like to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
