Christmas Fun Day @ Karting Mall 2001

The Camp Quality annual children's christmas party held at the Karting Mall last Sunday 9th December was a huge success this year with over 250 children, companions and volunteers attending our Christmas function.

The children were full of excited anticipation as they approached Kai Tak, knowing that they would soon have the opportunity to take a kart for a spin. First up was a group safety briefing was given for every racer before the children went to collect their race overall and helmets.

All the children were given a practice race at the premium track before they raced the real track - the VIP track. Excitement grew as the final championship race hit the track at 1:15pm with a line up of the top 12 racers.

At the final awards ceremony, the karting mall people presented trophies and caps to the three racing finalists with the quickest lap times. To many, this was the highlight of the Christmas party as many of campers have never experienced an awards winning before.

This was an excellent function with plenty of great activities for all the children. There were cartoon characters waiting to make friends with the children a magician to mesmerized them with his tricks as well as clowns and balloon artists to amused them. Face painting was very popular as was the candy floss and pop corn given to greet them at the children's corner.

Christmas disney cartoons were shown along with the Camp Quality video which showed clips from our first and past camps. It was amazing to see how some of our familiar kids had grown up!

Once again, the Rotary club of Kowloon North maintained its support. Present on the day were President Ramesh and wife Regina present, IPP Bill, PP Bruce and his wife Ann, Rtn May and her friends, Rtn Tommy and his wife Betty, Rtn Nicole and VP Nic. Nic did a wonderful job as a last minute stand-in Santa Claus!

The venue was ideal and the staff helped to provide plenty of opportunities for fun and excitement for both campers and companions.

And finally, to all those volunteers and supporters who helped to set up the karting mall and make this another spectacular event - Sincere thanks!!
