A
Happy New Year to you all!!
Camp Quality Hong Kong held their
very successful annual "thank you"
Christmas dinner for the companions
at the China Tee Club on Friday 21st
December.

This annual event is
the only opportunity the charity has
to thank all our wonderful companions
for their continued support. Having
established a solid organization structure
which enables us to program regular
activities and support for the campers,
the support of our companions is vital
to the continued success of Camp Quality
Hong Kong. All our companions have
spent all their time and energy concentrating
solely on taking care of the children
whilst at camps and other organized
activities, therefore in appreciation
of all their time and efforts, this
"thank you" dinner is held every year
just to show our gratitude.
This year was truly
a fun-filled evening for all who attended!!
This time around, to go with the Chinese
theme at the China Tee Club, we had
a "Yee Shanghai " theme and it was
an incredible sight to see all our
companions come dressed in their bright
Chinese costumes.
In accordance with our
Chinese theme, we would also chose
to award the best dressed male companion
and female companion for the evening,
our panel being Ms. Connie Esdicul,
Mr. Phil Colodanto and Mr. Charlie
Morency.

The restaurant was transformed
with all the atmosphere of old shanghai
by all the Camp Quality staff who
had been working extremely hard the
past weeks to make this event a remarkable
success.

The highlight of the
evening must have been the dance performance
by all Camp Quality Staff. As a token
of our appreciation to the companions
we had all secretly planned this grand
performance reminiscent of a popular
local Chinese performer. This was
greatly received by the crowd and
we had to do it again due to popular
demand!

Throughout the evening
we had various unusual but "thoughtful"
auction items to be auction, these
were our Camp Quality staff!! The
first auction item was Alice's Paper
Magic, which raised HK$380, the second
item was Larra's from "CQ with Love"
which meant that Larra will have to
knit (she is an expert though!) are
made to measure jumper for the highest
bidder, this raised HK$1500, the third
item, "Sealed with a Kiss" was Jessica
giving her first public kiss to the
highest bidder! this raised HK$520
and finally Paul's "Saturday Night
Fever" which meant Paul will have
to dance in public with the highest
bidder, this raised the most money
for the evening, a grand total of
HK$1600. We had one item for auction
which wasn't on the program and that
was by one of our camper turned companion,
Ko Lap Wai who stood in to give us
one of his delightful performance
which raised HK$800. We raised a grand
total of HK$4800 which went towards
our Camp Quality Parent Support Fund.

Special thanks and recognition
was also made to our regular camps
nurses, Vanessa, Carmen, Monita and
Alice. Elizabeth Li, a companion who
have been a solid Camp Quality supporter
from the beginning also received our
thanks and appreciation for her support
to our charity and also raising the
most money for the Terry Fox Run held
by the Hong Kong Cancer Fund this
November, she raised a grand total
of HK$7160 for the Hong Kong Cancer
Fund.

During the evening,
we presented all new companions with
their Camp Quality pins and flags.

As we reflect on the
special experiences we have all shared
over the past year, we find that some
are very funny and some very touching
but none of this could have happen
without the support of Mr. Bill Benter.
Without his generous support we would
not have been able to carry out our
camping programs in Hong Kong. Our
appreciation goes out to him and everyone
involved in making Camp Quality a
great success story in Hong Kong.
