Hidden Gems- Camp Quality Palm Island Easter Camp

Camp Quality spent a fun filled Easter Weekend at Palm Island.  Often overlooked in favour of their more famous neighbours, The Mission Hills resort complex, Palm Island is not actually an Island but another luxurious golfing and recreational complex. Palm Island offers a unique Balinese feel with its massive villas, beautiful tropical forest-inspired design and landscapes, outdoor adventure area and quite probably the best stargazing in the Guangdong province!

Camp Quality campers were lucky to be offered a weekend long adventure camp at this hidden paradise and were there to participate in various team building exercises and programs.

Located in Huizhou, eastern Guangdong, Palm Island is usually only a 45 minute drive from the Hong Kong Shenzhen border - but as so often happens to us, heavy rain set in AGAIN soon after departing, increasing our travelling time to over an hour. However credit must be given to our knowledgeable and extremely friendly bus drivers who drove particularly carefully in the rain – better safe than sorry!

Once arrived, we were all given a brief orientation by Palm Island’s Events Coordination Manager, Ada Wong. The children were split into five groups and put under the direction of Camp Chief Lo who came up with two excellent team building exercises for the children and companions to participate in. These exercises aimed to test their abilities on teamwork and joint efforts in solving problems and tasks.

After dinner, it was the Camp Quality Karaoke Night for the kids. We were amazed to find so many hidden talents in this group of happy campers – many of the kids were really singing their hearts out and fighting for the mikes!  Camper Cheng Tze Hong did an excellent cover version of our own Vincy Chan’s “Camp of Light” – Camp Quality’s 10th Anniversary Song.

Sunday started leisurely with plenty of arts and crafts for the less adventurous. For the more adventurous there were bicycle rides around the complex, outdoor ball games, a shooting field, table tennis and snooker rooms and the opportunity for some to try their skills at Pottery and a DIY T-shirt art- workshop. The children also seemed to thoroughly enjoy riding on the resort’s free golf shuttle buses which took everyone, everywhere around the Palm Island resort.

For the senior campers, it was more vigorous exercise, and what a better way to test their stamina than participating in a game of Paint Ball.  Palm Island had a brilliant war game site which offered an exciting opportunity for our older kids to enjoy some battlefield games.

Palm Island Resort offers the perfect gateway for a world of fun and leisure in exquisite settings. It provided us with a wide range of facilities and programs to cater to all our needs. We were definitely spoilt again!!
