Mysterious Island
Adventure Camp
Camp Quality Mysterious Island Adventure
camp was a huge success with just
under 200 campers, companions, nurses,
doctors and volunteers making the
journey across to Zhuhai for this
2-full day camping extravaganza.
After embarking the ferry terminal,
we went to a local restaurant for
lunch before departing for the massive
Ocean Spring Resort Entertainment
complex. The complex housed, two large
hotels, a fisherman’s wharf
featuring entertainment sites and
fast food outlets, a hi-tech theatre,
a hot spring complex and a modern
theme park.

Our first stop was the Mysterious
Island Theme Park with it’s
many exciting and hi-tech amusement
rides, including 5 which are supposedly
top in Asia; the “high roller”
which is a 360 degrees roller coaster
which loop and twist and turn in a
rather new and shocking way and probably
for those brave campers who went on
it, wishing it would stop or perhaps
wishing it wouldn’t!! Whether
you’re young or old, rollercoaster’s
are great fun, for a few minutes,
everyone becomes a kid again!

And the Camp Quality kids certainly
love the thrills and spills of this
spectacular rollercoaster even if
it meant a 45 minutes wait in the
line! Another favorite amongst the
young and old was the “Gushing
Dynamo” boat ride which also
seemed like another firm favorite
amongst all and was guarantee to get
everyone wet! wet! wet! The popular
“Turbo Spin” with it’s
colorful bird beak as a trademark
was also another ride which demanded
some waiting time in the queues, this
particular ride spins you, twist you
and turns you inside out!! What a
blast!

Not everything in the theme park
were just for the thrill seekers,
there were rides suitable for all
ages including, Pirate shop, frog
jump, haunted ride, “kiddies
Cart” to name but a few for
our younger ones. Throughout the day,
there were various street performances
including African drum dance as well
as a Scottish band pipes band playing
in the main section of the park for
those who just wanted to wander around
the area.

After a hard days play, Everyone
was treated to an amazing evening
performance at the complex’s
Fantasy Theatre, some of the seats
in the theatre can actually rotate
180 degrees but the Camp Quality group
were on all the standard normal seats
which gave just as great viewings
as the premium seats. The performance
entitled “A Dream by the Sea”
was a spectacular one and half hour
performance of modern dance, motorcycle
acrobatics, magic, music and clown
humor, we were all treated to a vast
range of different performance and
some similarities to a “Cirque
de Solei” performance was evident
in different parts of the performance.
Next morning, after
breakfast, we all descended to the
complex’s huge sport club, which
Camp Quality had to completely book
out the entire function space because
we had such a big group with us. It
was great fun for a couple of hours
of recreational purposes. The club
itself was very modern and boasts
a multi-functional gymniusm, which
we set up 5 badminton courts up for
the kids to play, a few table-tennis
tables as well as snooker tables and
an indoor archery field.
Sadly, all good things had to come
to an end and soon, we all had to
pack our bags and leave the complex
for our 4.00pm Ferry back to HK, however,
just before we left Zhuhai, we took
the kids to see a traditional wooden
puppet show, rather similar to a “Punch
& Judy” show but with an
oriental twist!

Everyone arrived back home safely
on Sunday night, all were exhausted
but still very excited since for many
campers on this camp, everyone was
rather “spoilt” and given
the VIP treatment with many of the
children and their companions staying
in executive suites rather than your
standard hotel room because the tour
operator upgraded us to a different
hotel as well as a higher room grade
category. To see the expressions on
the kid’s faces when they saw
their rooms (and the rest of us too!)
was something special!
