B&Q
Sailing Fun day with Dame Ellen MacArthur
In conjunction The Royal Hong Kong
Yacht Club and thanks to the generosity
of B&Q, a UK based international
retail company, twenty of our lucky
Camp Quality campers got to join Dame
Ellen MacArthur and her team for a
very special sailing Fun Day on Friday
28th April.
This record-breaking yachtswoman
famously broke the world record last
year for sailing single-handed around
the world on her custom made 75 &Q
trimaran. Hailed on her return to
the UK in February 2005 as one of
the world’s greatest sailors,
setting a new mark of 71 days, 14
hours, 18 minutes and 33 seconds.
The children got a rare opportunity
to meet this exceptionally humble
sportswoman and learn about her love
the ocean, sailing and how she has
overcome diversity. There were also
shrieks of delight from all the children
when MacArthur herself gave them a
private tour of the famous B&Q
trimaran.
As part of her Asian Record Circuit
Tour, Ellen was a on a week-long stopover
in Hong Kong midway through her Asia
Tour and during which she also attended
several B&Q fund-raising events
to benefit Camp Quality.

Having supported and sailed alongside
children suffering from cancer which
she strongly supports through her
own Trust, the Ellen MacArthur Trust
which is very much aligned with those
of Camp Quality. Ellen was able to
fully understand and appreciate the
amazing positive effects our camping
events and trips have on the children.

The idea was to create a fantastic
day out for our campers, however,
it achieve more than that with Ellen
taken time out from her busy schedule
to talk to our campers as well as
giving them each a private tour of
the amazing B&Q trimaran.

Once again, we would like to thank
B&Q Asia for sponsoring this memorable
event and special thanks must go to
Ellen MacArthur, who truly is an amazing
woman and an inspiration to all the
Camp Quality campers who meet up with
her!

THANKS
B & Q ASIA!! & THANK YOU ELLEN
& TEAM ELLEN!!
