Liverpool Football Club

Last week, eight very lucky Camp Quality campers and enthusiastic soccer fans had the very rare opportunity of meeting and being able to watch a private training session of the Liverpool Football Club players behind closed doors! Star players included team captain, Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Peter Crouch and Dirk Kuyt all took part in the training session and stopped to sign autographs and take photos with our kids.

Through our association with the official Liverpool Supporter's Club in Hong Kong, eight very lucky Camp Quality children had the dreams come true with the opportunity to meet their soccer heroes. The Liverpool soccer squad were in Hong Kong last week as part of the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Camp Quality has had an association with the Official Liverpool Supporter’s Club in Hong Kong for the past three years and our charity continues to be their nominated charity and is the beneficiary of their fundraising activities. We are pleased to report that the club has helped us raised a brilliant HK$15,000 this year through local fund-raising events which the club organized.

Perhaps the highlight for one special camper, Peace Chan was when team captain, Steven Gerrard presented Camp Quality with a specially signed Liverpool shirt with all the team players which she received from him on our behalf. Having just had a major operation and two relapses, this special moment did wonders for Peace’s morale! For the rest of the seven eager Camp Quality children, the biggest challenge was finding the appropriate autograph/photo seeking strategy - once the players finished their training session and we were given the green light to come out on the pitch, our kids quickly moved armed with their pens and cameras! In the words of camper, Tony “ we would never-ever dream of having the opportunity to meet these world-renowned players in Hong Kong, let alone to be able to kick a ball and come face to face with them so close, it’s a dream come true. The atmosphere was friendly and we were extremely excited and thrilled to meet them all and watch them play”.

Finally, Camp Quality would like to extend our special thanks to one special guy, Mr. Ian McAlan for arranging this unique opportunity for our Camp Quality children. It wasn’t easy! So thank you, Ian!
