OCEAN PARK – GREAT CAMP QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT!

The weather was finally cool last weekend and what better way to spend a Saturday than a visit to Ocean Park!

We thought that we would brave the weekend crowd and take over 150 campers and companions to Ocean Park for a full day of fun!

Ocean Park was undergoing major redevelopment and when we were there, there was still much construction taken place; however you could see certain facilities have now been upgraded and new attractions added.   One of the newer attractions was the “Amazing Asian Animals” where you could see pandas, red pandas, dragon salamanders and plenty of gold fishes of all varieties.

There were two sections to the park, the entrance half was mainly catering for our younger campers and its here you find the Panda enclosure.  Ocean Park is worth the visit purely for the Pandas who are fascinating animals and the kids seemed to adore watching them and fortunately for us they were awake when we visited.

There were now two ways to get from the base of Ocean Park to its summit, before the only way to get to the Headland was via the cable cars or Escalator but now you could take one of their new Ocean Express which is a very short train ride (around 3 minutes) and during the entire ride, underwater images are shown on screens on the ceilings of the Express train.

The second section was its “Headland” and its here you find all the thrill rides and most of our teenagers headed straight to the rollercoaster’s.

The new Jelly Fish Aquarium is definitely worth a mention and had so many wonderful and unusual jelly fish and our kids and volunteers seemed to thoroughly enjoyed visiting this new attraction.

The Dolphin and Sea lion show was also excellent and the younger kids seemed to love every minute of it and the view from the theatre was very nice just looking out at the calm blue sea.

Overall a much enjoyable day out for all and great fun for all ages!!
