Camp Quality
@ Ocean Park
It definitely was the more the merrier
at Ocean Park with Camp Quality as
160 campers and companions head to
Ocean Park for a full day of fun last
Saturday with the weather cooler too.

It might not be Disneyland
but the children were still very excited
at visiting Ocean Park, our very own
combination of sea world and amusement
park. We spent a full day at the park
and we still didn’t cover all
the park and rides! The Park is divided
into two areas, “lowland”
and a “headland” which
was connected by cable car and a long
escalator. Everyone probably had more
fun on the cable car ride, which was
a great experience for both camper
and companions with beautiful views
of the sea below, and surrounding
islands.

One of the main highlights for the
campers at Ocean Park was the chance
to experience a few thrill rides,
the more popular rides included: The
Dragon – Hong Kong’s largest
roller coaster with an added bonus
of wonderful views since its perched
on the side of the cliff, the ride
was short but nevertheless brought
the kids some hair-raising fun! The
Flying Swing – swings you in
chairs as high as 7 metres through
a rotating wave like motion. The Crazy
Galleon, a pendulum boat which completely
disorientates you and finally The
Octopus, a gentle rock in gondolas
at the end of the Octopus’s
three giant arms – Great Fun!!

Everyone also loved Whiskers’
Wild Ride, this is a theatre with
hydraulically actuated seats that
move in time to the fast pace action
on the screen, and it was kind of
like riding on a roller coaster without
actually going anywhere but visually
much more stimulating and probably
much gentler!

Another of our favourite was the
impressive Atoll Reef, probably one
of the world’s largest aquariums
where you get to view thousands of
fishes of different species. The observation
passageway circles the aquarium on
four levels, enabling everyone to
view the sea life from various depths
and angles…it was quite therapeutic
to look at so many different fishes
and the beautiful corals. The Shark
underwater gallery was also interesting
to watch.

We also got to watch the Dolphin
and Sea lion show at Ocean Theatre,
which was entertaining fun for all.
Pacific Pier was were you found the
Sea Lions and a few of us also went
to visit two of the park’s most
popular residents, An An & Jia
Jia!

It certainly was a great place to
spend a day and because it was near
Halloween, the park also had some
interesting creeping zones for the
children to explore. Just as we departed
the park, there were also some freakish
Halloween ghouls and goblins at the
entrance greeting the children, as
we all bid our farewells to Ocean
Park.

Everyone had wanted
to stay for Ocean Park’s Halloween
Bash with its many haunted attractions
and horror fun for kids in the evening,
but unfortunately our time was up
and we did have to leave.

If you’re a kid or a kid at
heart, you’ll love Ocean Park,
everyone at Camp Quality certainly
did!!
