WALKING
FOR A CAUSE
Oxfam Trailwalker 2004 had a special
meaning to our charity in that, our
own Larra Chung, together with 3 wonderful
companions, Cary, Mei Ha and Siu Yuk
formed an all ladies team of four
to take on that challenge.

The event, which took place on 5-7
November 2004 with over 3900 participants,
our Camp Quality team, which was team
no. 458, was allocated a start time
of 11.00am. The starting ceremony
was officiated by Phoenix Satellite
presenter Ms Tanya liu, herself seriously
injured in a train accident in England
in 2002 and almost pronounced brain-dead,
she was truly an inspiration to the
Camp Quality team and us all.

Our Camp Quality team had to plan
and train for the event months in
advance. They all had to achieve a
reasonable level of fitness with adequate
training in order to cover the hilly
100km Maclehose Trail, parts of which
are quite hilly, even rugged, with
difficult terrain and without tree
cover for hours at a time. The team
had to be familiar with the route
by walking it on practice walks with
their teammates in similar speed.
Our own Larra Chung skip possibly
every lunch hour to go for vigorous
training for the past 3 months with
the lead up to the event.

9TH

2004
Last Weekend, Camp Quality also supported
the Hong Kong Cancer Fund's 9th Annual
Stride for a Cure charity walk at
the Tai Tam Country Park.

The event, which supports the Hong
Kong Cancer Fund to raise funds for
cancer research. Camp Quality was
out in force to support this meaningful
event and as well as to enjoy a relaxing
and fun-filled outing, not to mention
an opportunity for some light exercise!

The Camp Quality team chooses the
5km route, which winds through the
beautiful Tai Tam Country Park. A
delicious brunch was also served once
we all finished the work and there
were live performances to entertain
us all afterwards.
