Rotary's Centennial Garden Tree Planting Ceremony - 1st May 2005

For Rotary International's centennial celebration this year, a special Tree Planting Day hosted by the Area Seven Rotary Clubs in Hong Kong was held in Fung Hang, Fanling.

Situated at the top of the Fung Hang Family Walk, this particular site offersed fantastic scenery overlooking the Luk Keng area on one side and Mirs Bay on the other. This is often a popular place for family outings and hiking expeditions. Other than celebrating the Rotary Centennial, the Garden will also serve as a unique showcase for shrubs and plants indigenous to the District.

With it being Rotary's Centennial celebrations and the Rotary Club of Kowloon North being one of the host organisers, Camp Quality found this a worthwhile endeavour and showed support by sending 20 Camp Quality delegates to repesent our charity as well as to have some tree-planting fun in a fresh and green environment!

Introductory to Sailing Day - 2nd May 2005

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, a regular supporter of Camp Quality Hong Kong organised a fantastic "Introductory to Sailing" fun day for our campers last Monday at their Middle Island clubhouse.

The Session started with a quick briefing by instructor in charge, Markus Wong and then the kids were told which boats and sailors they would sail in and then showed how to rig their boats. After assisting with the last of the rigging, all the boats were launch on the water for a joy ride around Middle Island and Deep Water Bay.

After a morning of mastering the art of sailing and a joy ride in their stratos, we returned back to Middle Island where the children and the companions along with the club's merry yachties all sat down for quick buffet lunch of hot dogs and chips!

In the afternoon, was when the REAL fun started! Richard and his team had hoped to sail slightly futher and start a sailing competition so that the kids could compete against one another to see which boats would come in first, however, there was no wind SO he had other things on his mind for the children - Water Fights....and there were buckets of them!!

No one escape alive!! We were all drenched from top to toe but the kids and companions had so much fun and it certainly added more excitement to a normal Monday afternoon!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the event sponsor, David S. Davies Foundation, Richard Knight, the Sail Training Manager and all the RHKYC members who volunteered with this very memorable event.
