how to become a companion
Our unique camps could not run without the dedication and commitment of our Companion volunteers. Companions share a long -term relationship with us. The time and effort given by companions directly and indirectly helps to make a real difference to the children who are affected by or living with cancer. Being a Camp Quality companion is great fun and hard work! The rewards at the end of each camp can be immerse. Seeing the difference in the campers after just one weekend at camp can be amazing and tremendously satisfying.
The time contributed by our companions enables us to extend and develop the quality and scope of our valuable services. This relationship also benefits the companions in a number of ways.
Companions find that volunteering gives them the opportunity to:
- Help a worthy cause
- Receive training
- Meet new people/make new friends
- Gain valuable experience
- Learn new skills/visit new places
Our companions come from a wide variety of backgrounds, we welcome applications from all sections of the community, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour or sex. However, we do have a minimum age requirement, which is 21 years old.
Camp Quality values it’s companion volunteers greatly and provides the necessary training and support to enable volunteers to effectively carry out their work. In addition to this, no expenses is incurred upon them since all expenses including traveling and meal allowance are covered so that the companions are not “out of pocket” as a result of helping Camp Quality. It is our companions who directly care for our campers at all Camp Quality events and programs, with the back up of our volunteer doctors and nurses.
If you would like to volunteer to be a Camp Quality Companion, please download the enclosed form and either fax or mail the form to our office.
